Putting the iPad to Work in Elementary Classrooms

This article talks about a teacher named Camilla Gagliolo who first used an iPad in her classroom to help children with learning disabilities. After becoming the instructional technology coordinator at Arlington Public Schools Gagliolo began to do seminars with a positive attitude toward the usage of iPads in schools. Gagliolo has gathered that the iPad is a tool that can help students learn through the graphics as well as the touch screen developed student engagement. The iPad is becoming a tool that students can use to download full text books or leaning apps.the article also mentions a teacher by the name of Amy Cobb who was able to get two iPads for her classroom who is looking forward to using the iPad in her classroom but she also has to do her homework on apps to see what would be most compatible for her students.

I think that iPads open up a wide range of things for students do whether it be homework or maybe a game that can help a student improve on certain subject. Technology is only an advantage to students. I think that I would use iPads or other forms of technologies in a classroom to help benefit the students.

  1. I think I will also use technology in my classroom to help my students improve, much like you said.

  2. Yeah I agree with you about having to make sure the app is compatible for students and the lesson and don't just go for technology cause you can't think of anything else.

  3. I believe using iPads in the classroom could be a great benefit if used in the correct way. There are many apps which would be great for use of teaching in the classroom as long as the teacher was not completely dependent on the ipad. The students would learn to use technology by completing homework on the ipad. However, skills such as writing should still be practiced on paper in my opinion.

  4. I believe that using Ipads in the classroom should be considered as a tool so that the teacher will also have to engage her students to learn in other ways. I agree that the teacher should research to make sure that the apps are compatible for her students

  5. I agree with everyone else. Teachers are starting to use iPads in the classrooms because it is more convenient for them and their students to use. Students can just learn from it and do a lot of other things with too. The possibilities just go on and on forever.
