Introduction Video
The introduction video was a video of myself where I talked about myself. I talked about why I want to be an education major as well as my hobbies and where I am from. This exercise meets the 3c standard. Communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents, and peers using a variety of digital age media and formats. I had no problem with anything on this assignment. I would use this in the future on my classroom website so that the parents could see how I am and what the school year will be like.
Concept Map
in this assignment we had to come up with a topic that we could teach. I did mine on how to right a letter. I included activities that someone could use if he or she wanted to teach it. This meets the 2a standard. Design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity. Every teacher will have to use this in the future to make lesson plans for every lesson they will have to teach. It gives the students a visual of what is being taught.
Khan's Academy
this assignment we had to watch a video of Mr. Khan explaining how he has made it to where students who are having problems learning the current subjects in school that they can use video to learn step by step examples. This standard is Develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to pursue their individual curiosities and become active participants in setting their own educational goals, managing their own learning, and assessing their own progress. I would use this in the future to help struggling students. I would talk to their parents and introduce to them what they can do at home to help catch their child up.
Voki
this assignment was to make a creation come to life. Like a cartoon have a voice. This meets standard Communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents, and peers using a variety of digital age media and formats. I will in the future use this to help the students understand things like rules. it is a fun creative way to catch a students attention.
Gap Minder
Gap minder is an online resource that give statistics world wide. It is very interesting and allows people to see what is going on all over the world. This meets standard 3d Model and facilitate effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate, analyze, evaluate, and use information resources to support research and learning. I will use this in the future as a resource for the students to use incase they need statistics for a project.
World Peace Game
this was a video that we watched about a man who taught a class of young children to show that children know what is going on with the world. they are nit given the chance to speak and be heard. This meets standard 1b. Engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources. In the future I will listen to the students and hear their answers and statements. Children are very smart an aware of whats going on in the world.
Movie maker
this assignment we had to make a story using pictures we took personally. I did my movie about my dogs . It was a complete fiction story about how they went crazy from eating a treat. This was a fun way to tell a story. This meets the 1a standard. Promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness. In the future I will encourage students to use their creativity and creat a story. This would be perfect to use in an english class.
Xtranormal
on this assignment we used animated characters to raise awareness on a public service announcement. I used mine to raise awareness about exercise. This meets the 4c standard. Promote and model digital etiquette and responsible social interactions related to the use of technology and information. In the future I could use this idea to encourage my students to become more active in sports and exercise.
It was a fun way for the students to see what is right and wrong.
Software and Hardware terminology
we learned the parts of both the hardware and software and their functions. It is important to know what both hardware and software consist of and they do. This meets 3a standard. Demonstrate fluency in technology systems and the transfer of current knowledge to new technologies and situations. For the future it is important for students to understand these terms if they are using a computer. This generation is depending more and more on technology.
Web site
this exercise was good to know how to do. It was a good idea to use as a classroom website to keep parents updated with things going on at school. I learned from other students websites all the possibilities that I could use on my future website. This meets 3b standard. Collaborate with students, peers, parents, and community members using digital tools and resources to support student success and innovation. in the future I will use this to help my students parent understand what is going on in the classroom.
I have learned so much from this class. I learned how to create so many things on a computer that are so helpful in the future of teaching. I really didnt have a strong point or weak point in this class. I struggled on everything to an extent. I did enjoy everything we did. Learning how to create a blog was helpful as well as everything else we learned. This course is a good idea for future teachers to take.

Atlanta Cheating Scandal Reverberates
I find this article sad, these educators encouraged cheating. I feel for those students who were taught to cheat and actually think it is ok. These adults who participated in this have taught those students nothing but to cheat their way through life. Those 35 educators were selfish and didn't care about the lives and futures of their students.

To (All) the Colleges That Rejected Me
In this article the High School girl is clearly frustrated with the colleges' of her choice because they did not accept her. She talks about diversity and how if she would have known what she does now she would have been something she wasn't. I feel she is a little bit over exaggerating by saying you need to have 9 extracurricular and 6 leadership positions but I see her point. Even though she did not get accepted didn't mean she was a horrible student. If she wanted to go to an Ivy league school then she should have taken the opportunity to do those things because they don't accept just anybody, she needed to stand out.

Lalee's Kin
This documentary the problem that the people of Tallahatchie, MS are dealing with it multiple generations of illiteracy. Lalee is a woman who struggles to have the necessities for his family much less have the proper education to help her grandkids. The West Tallahatchie school is on probation due to low test scores. Reggie Barns, superintendent, was hired to push the kids to raise the schools test scores. If the scores weren't getting any better then the State of Mississippi would take over. I think one thing that needs to happen is for the schools to provide some way to provide for the kids who cant afford school supplies. If a child does not have schools supplies then they don't want to school and they fall behind. Another thing is for parents to get help so that they can help teach their kids or grandchildren at the comfort of their homes. No parent wants to see their child go through what they have gone through, they want to see them succeed. The only way for children like lalee's grandkids to grow in their education is to have the proper education but how do you fix it? Its going to take a lot of time and patients along with caring for the students.

Khan Academy: Salman Khan
In my opinion I think this is an awesome tool. I like that its open for the public so that students who struggle in certain math sections can get the help that they need. Not only is this great for students but it is also great for teachers to use. Mr. Khan has made is available for teachers to use a diagram of their students by having different colors represent if a student has mastered a subject, needing some help or just stuck. He has made these videos for students to use to help them understand step by step how to do whatever they need help on. He has received positive comments on his videos for people who have children that are autistic that have benefited from these videos and website. I would definitely recommend this to my students and their parent as well as use it in my classroom.

Sequestration cuts will shortchange students, universities say
Sequestration cuts will shortchange students, universities say http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2013/03/02/cuts-will-shortchange-students-universities-say.html
I personally don't think it is fair for the students who can't financially pay for school. There are so many people work hard for scholarships that deserve to go to school that can't because of some budget cuts.K-12 student database jazzes tech startups, spooks parentshttp://www.reuters.com/article/2013/03/03/us-education-database-idUSBRE92204W20130303
I personally would not want my child's information being recorded for people to see. The parents don't have a say about their child's private information being put on this database. With today's society there is to much hacking going on and information being stolen. I think this is a bad idea.

Ken Robinson says school kills creativity
I would agree with Ken Robinson about creativity in schools. Schools some what crushes the creativity of students. Schools mainly focus on math, science, history etc. Students learn differently and most students cant express the creativity that they have to share with the rest of the students.

John Hunters World Peace Game
1. When John Hunter says he "I am standing on the shoulders of many people" I believe that he means he is learning from those people and representing them as a group.
2. I think he chose to use a game because it something other than a lecture. Kids want to get up and do something. If you make them sit down and listen then most likely they wont learn as much as they would interacting and learning from other students.
3. Some of the roles that the kids played in the game were Prime Minister, Parliament and military.
4. John Hunter relates to himself as no longer the teacher but a facilitator.
5. I think that the condolence letter to the parents maybe opened the parents eyes to what their child is capable of learn.
6. John Hunter seems to be really invested in his students education. He is determined, Invested, and caring
7. I think that if only one thing was learned from my student I would feel successful of course I would want them to learn more. Hunter says theses things cant be tested. I think he means that kids learn from spontaneous moments and not every student is the same learning wise.

Putting the iPad to Work in Elementary Classrooms
This article talks about a teacher named Camilla Gagliolo who first used an iPad in her classroom to help children with learning disabilities. After becoming the instructional technology coordinator at Arlington Public Schools Gagliolo began to do seminars with a positive attitude toward the usage of iPads in schools. Gagliolo has gathered that the iPad is a tool that can help students learn through the graphics as well as the touch screen developed student engagement. The iPad is becoming a tool that students can use to download full text books or leaning apps.the article also mentions a teacher by the name of Amy Cobb who was able to get two iPads for her classroom who is looking forward to using the iPad in her classroom but she also has to do her homework on apps to see what would be most compatible for her students.
I think that iPads open up a wide range of things for students do whether it be homework or maybe a game that can help a student improve on certain subject. Technology is only an advantage to students. I think that I would use iPads or other forms of technologies in a classroom to help benefit the students.

The Machine is Using Us
I was a little confused as to what the person was doing with the notepad. Was the guy in the video trying change information? If so its a little crazy trying to find out what is real on the internet. Majoring in Elementary Education you have to have the internet to gain material for classes. After gaining everyone elses views in class it is crazy to know that rely on the computer to re-lay messages and information whether it is safe or not.

The dirty and dangerous side of tech
I never realized how the technology that is around today is so harmful. Seems like everyone today has some sort of technology whether it be a Smartphone, computer, iPad, etc, some even have more than one product. It's a little crazy how most people over look the fact that these products are harmful or the fact that these product makers don't express the dangerous chemicals these products are made of. I will alway be using technology but I wish it would be a whole lot safer than what it is now.
Pay Attention
1. After viewing the Pay Attention, A Vision of K-12 students,& A Vision of College Students today, how can you use the information provided to become a better teacher? I would definitly use technology with future students because it is a major portion of their everyday life. It allows them to venture out in their comfort zones and be creative with ways of gaining knowledge.
2. What statements and facts made an impact on you? A statment that made an impact on me would be that student spend more time watching tv than doing homework. By using technology to help with school work can show to students that learning can be fun.
3. Does technology have a place in your classroom now or in the future? Why? I think that technology will always have a place in my classroom. If technology can help a struggling student then by all means I will use technology.

Mckelvey/ Weaver vs. Te'o
In the article about Ron Weaver, I believe that He should have gotten jail time because in today's society if you steal someone's identification you are sentences to some serious time. Now I do understand that it was his dream to play football and that chance was taken from him when he was trying to break up a fight but it also does not give him the right to take someone else's identity.
In the article about Te'o the article talks about Te'o's relationship with a girl whom he met online. He began to date this girl in early 2012 and had even met her in person but she suddenly became ill with leukemia and die to Te'o's knowledge. The truth is the girl was not who she said she was the girl whom he had met was not Lennay. As of right now there is an investigation going on about this case. I'm not sure what to believe, was it a stunt to get on the news or get publicity? Online dating is dangerous you never know what is real.
